Attacking Imran’s close associates, Elahi claims that Fawad’s earlier arrest “would be favourable”

Former chief minister of Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi claimed it would have been more “favourable” if Imran Khan had been detained earlier

Without mentioning Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Prominent Vice-President Fawad Chaudhry, senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and former chief minister of Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi claimed it would have been more “favourable” if Imran Khan had been detained earlier.

Elahi remarked, speaking at a gathering in Lahore on Thursday, “Imran Khan’s close aides struck at the PTI’s roots. One out of every four or five individuals close to Khan has been detained. If he had been taken into custody sooner, everything would have been better.

The former chief minister of Punjab expressed concern over recent acts taken by the interim chief minister and claimed that he tried his best to persuade the PTI not to dissolve the legislatures but that they [Khan] did not listen to him.

Elahi boasted of the accomplishments of his administration, saying he completed the task of five years in just five and a half months.

“I requested that they [PTI] allow me to complete the task. The Punjab assembly has now been disbanded. Watch what’s going on,” he continued.

He further asserted that if they had continued working for another year, the PML-politics N’s would have been history.

The former chief minister recalled that he had forewarned Khan that they [the ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)] would victimise them [PTI and PML-Q] if the assemblies were dissolved.

In his remarks, he also criticised acting CM Mohsin Raza Naqvi for allegedly persecuting political rivals.

Will you stay away from your home, he questioned.

The interim provincial chief executive was advised by the PML-Q leader to “do nice actions so that people remember you.”
