This festival aims to dig into important subjects like literature, education, and the economy with over 50 sessions showcasing a broad mix of entertainment, humour, music, dance, book releases, and conversations conducted by some of Pakistan’s best intellectuals and artists.
Mohsin Naqvi, the interim chief minister of Punjab, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Aamir Mir, the minister of information and culture for Punjab, and Syed Sardar Shah, the minister of culture and education for Sindh, will all make appearances at the festival.
Aamir Mir, the provincial minister of information and culture, veteran artist Anwar Maqsood, Ahmad Shah, the president of Arts Council Pakistan, and Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi, the executive director, made the announcement yesterday during a press conference.
Aamir Mir said during the conference that activities like these are essential in battling extremism in the nation. According to Ahmad Shah, literature and culture may bring together all the parts of a country. The Pakistan Literature Festival (PLF) will start in Lahore and also have events in Houston, New York, Chicago, Dallas, and Toronto, among other American cities.
A number of eminent individuals will gather for an introduction session on the Festival’s first day, including Mian Ijaz ul Hassan, Ata ul Haq Qasmi, Salima Hashmi, Mustansar Hussain Tarar, Kishwar Naheed, and Iftikhar Arif.
Following a brief introduction by the president of the Arts Council, Ahmed, a stimulating conversation on “Civilizational Challenges of the 21st Century, Pakistan and Thoughts of Iqbal” will take place. Tahseen Firaqi, Syed Nomanul Haq, and Dr. Nasira Javed Iqbal will all offer interesting comments throughout this session.
A number of well-known singers, including Natasha Baig, Ali Zafar, Ali Azmat, Sain Zahoor, and Saahir Ali Bagga, will perform during the musical evening. Sessions covering a variety of literary subjects will be included in the event.
Two fascinating talks on Urdu fiction will take place on the second day of the carnival. In the first session, “What’s New in Urdu Fiction?,” well-known authors will discuss the most recent advancements in this genre.
Actress Bushra Ansari will preside over a panel of accomplished writers in the session “Ahmad Bashir Ka Kumba,” which will feature Neelum Ahmad Bashir, Asma Abbas, Zara Noor Abbas, and Ahmed Abbas.
Nayyar Ali Dada, Salima Hashmi, Yousuf Salahuddin, and Kamran Lashari will all participate in the “Lahore Pur Kamal” special session. Dr. Sughra Sadaf will conduct “Mein Bhunna Dilli Dy Kangray,” another significant panel discussion, which will also include Nain Sukh, Mushtaq Sufi, Prof. Zubair Ahmed, and well-known author Mustansar Hussain Tarar.
In a discussion for young people, renowned journalist Hamid Mir will address their issues. A session between Bee Gul and renowned actor Shaan Shahid will wrap up the day.
