A New Date For 5G Launch In Pakistan By IT Minister

KARACHI: Although it was initially planned to implement 5G technology by December, the government is now anticipated to do so in July of 2023.

Syed Amin ul Haq, the minister of information technology and telecommunications, promised that the effort would help further expand the IT industry and its export at an exponential rate while announcing the new date. Speaking during a ceremony for the UBIT Career Fest 2022, which was put on by the University of Karachi’s Department of Computer Science, the minister expressed confidence that the new deadline for the introduction of 5G technology will be met without additional delay.

He claimed that “our IT industry has already experienced substantial growth.” The IT and telecommunications sector has seen the largest increase in exports when compared to Pakistan’s other 43 ministries. In contrast to the 47.44 percent increase in IT and telecom exports during the same time period, other ministries’ exports have only increased by 2 to 3 percent recently. The minister said, “It reflects the potential that we need to capitalise on.

The young IT graduates may seize the expanding chances being presented by the IT companies amid enormous funding of $373 million from the government for the startups, he claimed, demonstrating that future job needs can be met with the cooperation of industry and academics.
