A lawyer named Mian Dawood submitted the reference and asked the SJC to launch an investigation into the judge of the supreme court, whose assets are Rs. 3 billion.
In the reference, Judge Naqvi was charged with breaking the judges’ code of behaviour in violation of Clause (5) of Article 209 of the Constitution.
The complaint referred to him as a whistleblower who exposed Justice Naqvi and members of his family for misconduct and abuse of authority. According to the report, Mr. Naqvi used his position to help his kids and daughter study overseas and obtain money from Zahid Rafique (Owner of Future Holdings)
It further charged that the chief justice of the nation “legalised ill-gotten gains through property sales.” Reference was made to Allied Plaza, which the plaintiff claimed was obtained through illegal assets.
Former Pakistani Chief Judge Asif Saeed Khosa issued a ruling against him for giving bail to the Mr. Nazir three. Yet, the bail was initially turned down by the same court. When the accused’s attorney for the bail hearing changed, Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi once again approved it, the statement continued.
According to the reference, there is a widespread belief in the bar rooms that the sons of Justice Naqvi approach parties who have been wronged by the Lahore High Court and the Supreme Court of Pakistan in criminal cases and demand large sums of money in exchange for facilitating and receiving favourable decisions from those courts through the influence of Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi.
The complaint charged that Imran Khan’s PTI leader, He Naqvi, had publicly displayed their friendship. The reference stated: “Ex-CM Punjab Ch Pervaiz Elahi on record, at numerous private conersations admitted to manage PH-related cases in their favour through Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi.”
