The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, and the president of the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP), Asif Ali Zardari, met at the Prime Minister’s House to discuss the government’s next steps. The Election Commission of Pakistan rejected President Alvi’s announcement of the date for elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on February 20. (ECP). It was deemed an unconstitutional action by Prime Minister Shehbaz and his cabinet.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the value of the Youth Loan Program in assisting unemployed youth and the nation’s economy during the meeting. He launched a Freelancer Card and gave out checks to the program’s recipients.
The US Congress was urged by the Prime Minister to play its proper part in speaking out for the rights of the Kashmiri people and against the spreading anti-Muslim extremism in India. The Prime Minister pointed out the importance of the long-standing cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.
Senator Chuck Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader, and a six-member Democratic delegation also met with the Prime Minister. They reaffirmed their desire to continue advancing bilateral ties between the US and Pakistan through active engagement and increased collaboration.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the loan program’s success is crucial to the development of the nation and that giving Pakistan’s youth plenty of opportunities would propel the nation to new heights. Additionally, he mentioned that the Youth Loan Scheme’s recovery rate was approximately 99 percent, demonstrating the youth of the nation’s honesty.
