Haris Rauf, the leading fast bowler for the Pakistani cricket team, recently shared his insights about the evolving dynamics of cricket today. According to him, the game has significantly evolved to an extent where chasing totals of 300 or more is now a common occurrence. He expressed his satisfaction over the team’s ability to chase such high totals.
Rauf also stated that bowlers in today’s One Day International (ODI) cricket should be prepared to concede runs, given the aggressive batting techniques employed in the modern game.
Pakistani cricket fans had much to cheer about on Saturday as the national team clinched a seven-wicket victory over New Zealand in the second ODI, thanks to Fakhar Zaman’s third consecutive century.
This victory puts Pakistan in a commanding position with a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. The remaining three matches will be played in Karachi on May 3, 5, and 7.
Rauf was full of praise for Mohammad Rizwan, the team’s wicketkeeper-batsman, for his consistent performance in the middle order. He highlighted the significance of the effective partnerships between Rizwan and skipper Babar Azam.
The fast bowler emphasized that both teams aim to give their best performances, acknowledging that wins and losses are an inherent part of the game. He believes a strong performance in this series will provide the team with a momentum boost ahead of the Asia Cup and the World Cup.
Rauf shared that if Pakistan manages to clean sweep New Zealand 5-0, they could potentially secure the top spot on the ICC ODI team points table. He acknowledged the determination of the Kiwis to bounce back, but expressed his team’s intent to capitalize on the opportunity at hand.
With an eye on the Asia Cup and World Cup, Rauf is eager to exploit the reverse swing conditions. He also mentioned his readiness to bowl with the new ball if needed, demonstrating his versatility as a bowler.
