The federal capital’s hospitals have all been placed on high alert as part of the city administration’s attempts to ensure the security and health of the New Zealand cricket team while they are visiting the area.
April 20 and April 24 will see the visiting side play the final two Twenty20 Internationals of the five-match T20I series, and April 26 will see them play the first One Day International of the five-match ODI series. After that, the tourists will go to Karachi for the final three ODIs.
The New Zealand cricket team will remain in the federal capital from April 18 to April 27, according to a letter from the city government that was released on Tuesday. The District Magistrate has written to the PIMS and Polyclinics hospitals asking them to be ready for any medical emergency that may happen during the team’s stay in order to guarantee that the best medical care is available.
To ensure that, should it be necessary, quick medical assistance can be delivered, each hospital has been instructed to provide two ambulances.
The letter also stated that the metro bus service would be halted while the teams were being transported to and from the stadium. Two doctors and two ambulances from the Polyclinic hospital will go with the teams to assure their safety and security.
In order to ensure that any medical emergency is handled quickly and effectively, the letter further instructed that three teams of doctors be placed on standby at both hospitals.
