Shakib Selected As March 2023 ICC Men’s Player Of The Month

Shakib scored 353 runs and took 15 wickets in the 12 games he played in March.

The ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March 2023 has been announced as a legendary all-rounder. For his outstanding efforts in March 2023, veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan received the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award. Shakib defeated stiff opposition from UAE player Asif Khan and New Zealanders Kane Williamson to win the prized award.

Due in large part to the all-around prowess of the seasoned all-rounder, Bangladesh have emerged as a domestic powerhouse.

Shakib finished the three-match ODI series against England with the most runs scored and wickets taken for the Tigers, making him one of the few bright lights for Bangladesh. Shakib led the way with a 71-ball 75 and a four-for to earn Player of the Match honours in the hosts’ 50-run victory in Bangladesh’s lone series victory.

His performance continued over to the T20I series, as Bangladesh defeated the current Men’s T20 World Champions by an unprecedented score of 3-0. In addition to taking a wicket in each of the three T20Is, Shakib scored an undefeated 24-ball 34 to help his team win the first game.

When Ireland paid a visit, Shakib was at the peak of his form, hitting a match-winning 93 in the first ODI. The 36-year-old went on to smash a 24-ball 38* later in the second T20I of the series before going on to pick up five wickets inside the Powerplay in a commanding all-around performance.

Shakib scored 353 runs and took 15 wickets in the 12 games he played in March.

Shakib was quick to express his gratitude to the judges after taking home the prize for the second time, beating out two of his rivals.

I am pleased to receive this prize, and I want to thank the members of the expert panel who voted for me, stated Shakib.

“There are so many remarkable performances in a month from a number of terrific cricketers, so this is a compliment I deeply respect.

“If I had to choose one highlight from the past month, it would have to be the T20 series sweep against England. With the team continuing to work so well together, it is now simpler for me to focus on my job and make a contribution.”
