Senior Vice-President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Fawad Chaudhry emphasized dialogue as the primary solution to election-related problems on Saturday.

During a press conference in Lahore, the legislator stated, “Authorities should convene and establish the rules of the game concerning elections.”

The PTI leader praised the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for their two positive stances and their political approach.

“PPP refused to join a judiciary boycott. According to the PPP, political parties should not abandon communication,” Fawad explained.

A day earlier, the PPP’s core committee resolved to engage with all coalition government members to address political party communication, including with the PTI. The meeting was co-chaired by former president Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.

The gathering also underscored the importance of quickly and respectfully settling cases with differing judicial decisions.

The former communications minister denounced the government for confusing the public about legal matters, asserting that debates about judicial benches do not concern the general population. “Elections are the solution to Pakistanis’ issues.”

The politician believes the country is being pushed towards a political crisis.

“Demands for the chief justice’s resignation aim to distract from other problems. The current government is responsible for Pakistan’s present situation,” he argued.

Regarding Justice Athar Minallah of the Supreme Court and his dissenting note, Fawad commented: “We have a respectful relationship with Athar Minallah. No one can accuse Justices Athar Minullah and Mansoor Ali Shah of anything.”

He also emphasized that his party respects all Supreme Court justices.

In his detailed order addressing the Supreme Court’s decision on the Punjab elections a day earlier, Judge Minallah revealed that the case was dismissed by a 4 to 3 vote and emphasized that “he had not recused nor had any reason to distance himself” from the issue.

According to Judge Minallah, Justice Yahya Afridi’s note on the petition’s dismissal was “persuasive,” and he had no “hesitation in concurring with the result” due to this.

The former minister and President Arif Alvi also commended the return of the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill, 2023, which curtails the powers of the country’s chief justice.

“The president made a judicious decision by returning the bill. The nation stands behind the judges,” he declared.
