Shadab Khan’s replacement as the national team’s vice captain for white-ball cricket is being considered by the Pakistan Cricket Board. Khan is an all-rounder.
According to sources, the choice of a new vice skipper may be made prior to the upcoming limited-overs series between Pakistan and New Zealand. Usama Mir, a leg-spinner, was rumored to be able to take Shadab Khan’s place in the Pakistani team for the domestic series against the Kiwis.
The 24-year-old all-rounder led the Men in Green in the T20Is against Afghanistan last week in Sharjah after being named vice-captain in 2020. Pakistan had suffered a 2-1 series defeat.
It should be remembered that the Pakistan-New Zealand series’ schedule was recently altered as a result of the Punjab elections.
The New Zealand men’s cricket team will play five one-day internationals and five Twenty20 internationals in Pakistan, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a press release on March 20.
The team will now land in Lahore and play three T20 Internationals there from April 14 to April 17, after which it will proceed to Rawalpindi to play the remaining two T20 Internationals and the first ODI from April 20 to April 26. The final four ODIs, which will be played in Karachi from April 30 to May 7, will serve as the tour’s conclusion.
The New Zealand cricket team is on an extended tour, and the games will count toward the ICC Team Rankings. The ODIs will aid Pakistan in getting ready for the ACC Asia Cup and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2023, while the T20Is will help the PCB continue to put the team back together for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will take place in the USA and the West Indies in June/July 2024.
