The cases are connected to the damage done to the courthouse during Khan’s previous trip to the federal capital. A bench led by Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq presided over the hearing.
Khan travelled from Lahore to the IHC earlier today to apply for pre-arrest bail in several cases brought against him in the federal capital. His attorney, Barrister Salman Safdar, argued that people over 60 should not be required to submit to biometric verification.
The solicitor added that although they had received protective bail from the Lahore High Court, they were unable to proceed once they arrived at the courthouse.
Justice Farooq inquired as to why they did not go to the trial court first before approaching the IHC. The lawyer responded by saying that he would present Supreme Court’s judgments in this regard. Khan was directed to remain seated by the CJ when he proceeded to the rostrum.
Justice Hassan remarked that given that Khan had previously been attacked, his security threats must be sincere. The chief election commissioner had previously been asked by the court on several occasions to give Khan security.
The trial court was moved from F8 kachehri court to the judicial complex, according to Islamabad’s advocate general Jahangir Jadoon, and it is now Imran Khan’s responsibility to maintain peace. Khan then left the high court after being granted temporary bail by the court.
As Khan moved towards Islamabad, his attorneys filed a petition asking for pre-arrest bail in numerous cases that had been filed in various police stations throughout the federal capital.
The court was urged by the argument that these cases were brought as political retaliation to prevent the PTI chief from being detained by the federal government.
Because the petition lacked Khan’s biometric information, the registrar’s office attached objections to it. Following the completion of Khan’s biometric, the objection was dropped, and the plea was accepted for hearing alongside other objections.
Khan responded that there was no security and that it was their security when questioned about security measures.
The PTI leader declined to comment on political dialogue. Khan’s anticipated court appearance was the topic of a significant meeting presided over by the inspector general.
Despite being hurt, senior officers, including the operations DIG and SSP, showed up for the meeting. SSP Yasir Afridi will be in charge of field supervision of the security arrangements.
Section 144 is in effect in Islamabad, with violators facing arrest. The Islamabad police established a central control room at the Safe City Headquarters. Only those who are directly affected by court orders may enter the courthouse.
Previously, the Islamabad police spokesperson claimed that they were unaware of any potential court appearances for Khan but would make security preparations in response to any rulings.
