Ananya Panday is the star of the forthcoming Amazon Video series “Call Me Bae,” which debuted its first trailer on Thursday. The description of the trailer, which shows banter between her and Varun Dhawan about all things fashion and clothing, said, “pakki khabar hai people, (It’s definite news) @ananyapanday is the new fashionista in the prime verse!”
Ananya Panday, who plays the “fashion expert” in the trailer, delivers Varun Dhawan a speech about the history of his boxers that was influenced by Meryl Streep. Check out this trailer for the upcoming new series from #CallMeBae, which is now in production! PrimeBae.”
At the start of the video, Varun addresses the viewers directly to introduce the new program, Call Me Bae. Because it’s her program and she plays a “complete fashion expert” in it, Ananya steps in and instructs Varun to call “ME” Bae. Varun then whispers to her that she is not a fashion guru simply because she names designer Manish Malhotra her “chachu” (uncle).
While Varun chuckles as Ananya attempts to choose between two blue belts with her stylist, their conversation continues. She then assumes the identity of Miranda Priestly, the well-known character created by Meryl Streep and featured in the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada, in order to attack Varun for wearing a pair of “chomu blue boxers” that were provided by an “unpaid intern” employed by the “fashion log (people)” that he criticizes. Varun then attempts to control her by referring to her as “Meryl Panday” and saying, “She is going to kill it in Call Me Bae.” “I know,” Ananya replies.
Varun and Ananya’s cute banter garnered a variety of comments in the video’s comment section, while some found it incomprehensible that the video was directly inspired by The Devil Wears Prada. Among the responses were “Hehe this is very sweet and our prime bae is really cutettoo” and “Mr. Bae is the cutest (red love emoticons)”. A few people made conflicted comments in the interim. Nope. Simply said, no stop her from having that talk. “Another show for the south Bombay audience” was another user’s remark, which read, “Not acceptable.”
Even though production on the next Amazon Original Series has already commenced, no more information has been made public.
