Shaheen Afridi Likely To Lead Pakistan During Afghanistan T20I Series

Shaheen Shah Afridi may replace Babar Azam as captain for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan.

For the forthcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam is expected to be rested, while Shaheen Shah Afridi might be appointed as the stand-in captain, according to a news report.

According to sources aware of the arrangement, Mohammad Rizwan will also receive a break for the series that will be played in the United Arab Emirates in addition to Babar (UAE).

Moreover, the selectors are expected to choose Saim Ayub, Haseebullah Khan, Azam Khan, and pacer Ihsanullah for the series. The selection of all-rounders Faheem Ashraf and Imad Wasim is also up for grabs.

The change occurs a day after the three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Afghanistan’s schedule was altered.

The games were originally scheduled to take place at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on March 25, 27, and 29. They will now occur in the same stadium on March 24, 26, and 27.

“Together, the boards of the Afghanistan Cricket Board and Pakistan Cricket Board have decided to make a few minor adjustments to the schedule for Afghanistan’s three-match T2OI series against Pakistan at home. The first game of the series will now begin on March 24, and the final two games will now be played in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, on March 26 and 27 “In a statement, ACB stated.

“The altered schedule was necessitated by the Hawk-Eye Technology’s unavailability during the previously scheduled days. The two boards have agreed to the alterations in the schedule to guarantee that the necessary broadcast technology would be available for the two teams’ maiden T20I series “That was amazing.

In addition, Muhammad Yousuf, a former Pakistan cricketer, is expected to be selected as the team’s interim head coach for the series against Afghanistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which was unable to reach an agreement with Mickey Arthur about the job of head coach, is expected to make the decision.
