Fazalhaq Farooqi of Islamabad United has been penalised 10% of his match money for violating the PCB Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Staff on Thursday night during his team’s match against Lahore Qalandars at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
Farooqi was judged to have breached Article 2.5 of the PCB Code of Conduct, which prohibits using words, deeds, or gestures that are derogatory or could elicit a hostile response from a batter upon his or her removal during a match.
After removing the batter in the 19th over of the Lahore Qalandars’ batting, Farooqi shouted foul language.
Farooqi admitted guilt and agreed to the punishment Roshan Mahanama, the match referee, had suggested. On-field umpires Aleem Dar and Faisal Khan Afridi made the accusation.
Shadab Khan, the captain of Islamabad United, and Shan Masood and Tim David, players for Multan Sultans, were each fined 10% of their match costs for committing separate Level 1 infractions of the HBL PSL Code of Conduct during their team’s match in the HBL PSL 8 on Tuesday.
Article 2.8 of the HBL PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Workers, which deals with “Showing discontent at an Umpire’s judgment during a Match,” was determined to have been broken by all three players.
After the on-field umpire called a wide ball in Shadab’s case during the fourth ball of Multan Sultans’ batting team’s 20th over, Shadab came racing from the boundary line and showed his displeasure at the call.
In reference to Shan, he expressed his dissatisfaction when the umpire failed to signal one for the over for a short-pitched delivery on the penultimate ball of Multan Sultans’ 14th over of batting. In a similar vein, Tim David expressed his anger over the leg-failure umpire’s to declare a short-pitched ball a wide delivery on the second ball of the Multan Sultans’ batting team’s 18th over.
There was no need for a formal hearing because Shadab and Shan admitted to the crimes and consented to the penalties Roshan Mahanama suggested. David contested the judgment in the meanwhile, and the match referee upheld it following a formal hearing. On-field umpires Rashid Riaz and Faisal Afridi made the accusations.
