According to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season eight points standings, Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings are the two worst performing teams.
After their sixth loss to the Gladiators, the Kings are practically out of the tournament, but Sarfaraz Ahmed’s team still has a chance to qualify.
Yet, because there is still a slim chance, the gods of luck will have to significantly favour both teams in order for them to make the playoffs right now.
Scenario for Karachi Kings
If Peshawar Zalmi loses all of their remaining games, the Gladiators lose to Multan Sultans after defeating Zalmi, and the Kings defeat Lahore Qalandars, then the Imad Wasim-led Karachi Kings will have a chance to advance to the playoffs.
Three sides will have six points in this scenario, and the outcome will depend on the net run rate (NRR).
Scenario for Quetta Gladiators
The Gladiators have two opportunities to advance to the playoffs.
Scenario 1
The first scenario is if the Gladiators, led by Sarfaraz Ahmed, defeat Zalmi and Sultans in both of their matches while hoping Peshawar loses all of its remaining games.
Both clubs will have eight points if the Gladiators win all of their games and Zalmi wins one more game while losing two others.
Scenario 2
The three teams will each have eight points if Gladiators defeat the Babar Azam-led Zalmi and Sultans, Zalmi also defeats the Sultans but loses to Islamabad United, and Qalandars and MS drop all three of their remaining contests with Zalmi, QG, and Islamabad.
Quetta defeats Karachi for a crucial victory
At the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Monday, Quetta Gladiators defeated Karachi Kings by four wickets in game 22 of the eighth season of Pakistan Super League.
After Kings set a 165-run total, Gladiators defeated them by four wickets.
