Monday, the military’s media wing reported that a security personnel was martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in the Jani Khel area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district.
According to the (ISPR), the martyred soldier was Sepoy Gul Sher, 24, of the Khyber district.
“To eliminate any terrorists in the area, a sanitization operation is underway,” the military’s media wing reported.
Numerous militant outfits have regrouped, raising the threat of attacks against security personnel and citizens, which have increased since the country has been fighting terrorism for decades.
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended a ceasefire with Islamabad in November last year, which led to an increase in attacks across the Afghan border and within Pakistan.
According to reports, the TTP has regrouped in Afghanistan after the Taliban took over, despite Pakistan repeatedly asking its neighbour to prevent terrorism on its soil.
According to statistics provided by Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, militants have targeted primarily Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the past year, with the former accounting for 31% of attacks and the latter 67%.
Nearly a month ago, a soldier was martyred in a clash with terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO).
