Altaf Hussain, the founder of the MQM, and MQM-attorney Pakistan’s had a disagreement before the UK High Court about who truly controlled the MQM, which MQM group was the true one, and who owned the London properties valued more than £10 million.
Altaf Hussain testified in court as a witness and was cross-examined by MQM-Pakistan attorney Barrister Nazar Muhammad. Hussain defended his actions as the MQM’s supreme leader, telling the jury that the party body that looked to Hussain in London for final approvals and ratifications actually revolved around his ultimate decisions and that he called the shots.
As the party’s supreme leader, Altaf Hussain testified to the court during cross-examination that he avoided getting involved in the details of the party but that it was widely acknowledged that everyone in the party supported his goals and objectives. As a result, the MQM-Pakistan was a breakaway organisation formed during a crackdown with the goal of weakening the main party and removing the party’s London-based leader through unnatural means.
Altaf Hussain acknowledged that following his statement on August 16, 2016, he had given Dr. Farooq Sattar authority to act in the public good. In response to questions, he said that no new party had been created since the modifications of August 31, 2016, but he claimed that Dr. Farooq Sattar and other party members had betrayed the way the party was administered by doing the following activities.

He testified before the court that although Azeem Tariq was named the MQM’s chairman, it was actually he who created the organisation and still holds the position of leadership today.
