ECP Gives Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman A Notice

Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, the leader of JI Karachi, received a notice from the ECP for conducting local government elections

Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, the leader of JI Karachi, received a notice from the ECP for conducting a political gathering there before the city’s second round of local government (LG) elections.

The district monitoring officer (DMO) of Karachi Central issued a warning to the JI chief after assessing the “violation” and asking for clarification over the political gathering on January 8.

The ECP ordered KP Hafiz Naeem to appear before the DMO on January 11 and defend their position. It is important to note that the leader of JI Karachi is running for the local government (LG) office from Union Council (UC) 8, North Nazimabad.

The ECP also warned Masroor Ahsan of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for breaking the Election Act when he organized a rally on January 7 at Edgar Ground in Nazimabad. According to the ECP, the LG elections in Hyderabad and Karachi would be conducted using the previous voter lists.

The necessary authorities have been told to set up the elections. He should recall that while Jamaat-e-Islami prayed for the LG elections to take place in Hyderabad and Karachi on January 15, MQM-P and the Sindh administration sought a postponement in the elections, alleging a delimitation issue.
