According to the military’s media wing, Chief of Army Staff Gen. Asim Munir is on a visit of Saudi Arabia.
From January 4 to January 10, according to ISPR, Gen. Asim will be visiting Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on official business. He will meet with the senior leaders of the two friendly nations to address issues of shared concern, military-to-military co-operation, and bilateral relations with an emphasis on security-related issues.
Early on Thursday, Saudi Press Agency also released an update regarding Gen Asim’s arrival to the Kingdom. General Asim met with Prince Khalid bin Salman, the Saudi Arabian Defense Minister, in Riyadh, according to a statement from SPA.
A tweet from Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud read, “Pleased to meet H.E. General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan. We stressed the strategic alliance between two friendly nations, reviewed our bilateral defence and military ties, and talked about measures to improve our collaboration.
Gen. Asim was also congratulated by him on his appointment as Chief of Army Staff.
According to reports, the meeting covered bilateral ties as well as strategies for enhancing defence and military cooperation. The meeting was attended by a number of Saudi and Pakistani military and civic authorities.
