A schedule for the elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the near future. The ECP requires 54 days to prepare for the elections, according to sources.
A letter to the ECP has been sent by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali suggesting that the election be held on April 16. Moreover, the commission has written to the Chief Ministers of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa directing them to complete postings and transfers in their respective provinces.
On the advice of the Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly was dissolved, with the dissolution being signed by the Governor Haji Ghulam Ali. A Peshawar Commissioner confirmed the development and indicated that the Governor had communicated the election date to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
A date for the Punjab elections has not yet been announced by the province’s governor, Balighur Rehman.
