Markets Will Close At 8:30pm, While Wedding Venues Will Close At 10pm, According To The Government’s Energy Saving Plan

The federal government has announced the energy conservation plan that will require the closure of markets at 8:30 p.m. and wedding halls at 10 p.m., according to defence minister Khawaja Asif's announcement on Tuesday.

At a press conference, Asif announced the cabinet's decision in a press conference flanked by ministers, Sherry Rehman, Khurrum Dastagir Khan and Marriyum Aurangzeb.

According to the defence minister, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed a 30% reduction in power utilised by all federal government ministries. He also advocated for reducing unnecessary office electricity use.

According to the minister, the federal cabinet meeting was held without any electricity as part of his directive.

According to the power division's suggestion, the cabinet has approved the implementation of an energy-saving programme that will be used throughout the entire nation, according to Asif. He noted that under the proposed schedule, markets would close at 8:30 p.m. and wedding halls at 10 p.m.

According to the minister, if these timings are followed, the nation will save Rs62 billion.

Asif also said that the factories making electric fans would stop operating by July 1.

"Inefficient fans consume between 120 and 130 watts of power. Fans that consume 60 to 80 watts are widely accessible worldwide, he added, adding that the import duty on "inefficient" fans will be raised to reduce its usage.
