As part of its plan and goal to cultivate, grow, and reward outstanding young people who perform well, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) added three top age-group players to the nation’s Test squad on Tuesday.
The Men’s Interim Selection Committee, led by former captain Shahid Afridi, made the choice in order to provide the players exposure to and experience playing abroad.
Arafat Minhas (Multan), top-order batsman Basit Ali (Dera Murad Jamali), and right-arm fast bowler Mohammad Zeeshan are the three players (Faisalabad).Men’s Interim Selection Committee Chair Shahid Afridi stated: “We are not only looking at the present, but also have an eye on the future. We have included three of our top age-group cricket players in this relationship so that they may spend time with their national team idols and learn how to organise and practise for intense games.
Despite the fact that the three players won’t be available for selection, this endeavour will speed up their development and provide them more awareness, comprehension, and knowledge of the demands and rigours of top-grade cricket.
Arafat Minhas, who scored 178 runs and claimed nine wickets for the Gwadar Sharks, was voted the best all-around player in the Pakistan Junior League. Basit Ali, who scored the most runs (379) for the Bahawalpur Royals, was named the best player and hitter in the PJL. In November, he participated in the U19 series against Bangladesh in Multan.
With 14 wickets, Zeeshan, Basit’s PJL teammate, was named the competition’s top bowler.
